In 2019, the derivatives exchange <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinwisdom.com\/binance-review\/\"   title=\"Binance\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Binance<\/a> Futures was forced to close its doors in the United Kingdom after the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) informed the company that it was not authorized to provide services in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lainformacion.com\/empresas\/cnmv-prohibe-binance-vender-derivados-criptoactivos-espana\/2865815\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Per<\/a>&nbsp;La Informaci\u00f3n, the&nbsp;National Securities Market Commission<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>(CNMV), which has authority over the crypto sector in Spain, has recently \u201cforced\u201d Binance to \u201ccompletely abandon the sale of cryptoasset derivatives in Spain.\u201d The report quoted unnamed \u201csources from the business sector\u201d as stating that Binance\u2019s Spanish \u201cmanagers\u201d had \u201cheld several meetings with the [CMNV] since the beginning of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The derivatives menu has been removed from the relevant selection on the homepage of Binance\u2019s Spanish&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.binance.com\/es\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>. In the English-language version, the derivatives menu is found between the trade and earn menus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same media outlet previously&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lainformacion.com\/empresas\/binance-pide-cartas-credenciales-cnmv-solicitar-licencia-bde\/2861517\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;that Binance held talks with the regulator in early March this year and that Binance had handed \u201ccredential letters\u201d to the regulator, again quoting \u201csources\u201d close to the matter. In January, the firm made a bid to be included in the official registry of the central&nbsp;<strong>Bank of Spain<\/strong>&nbsp;(BdE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report stated that the \u201ccryptocurrency giant\u201d was \u201cclear about its expansion strategy in Spain,\u201d but was \u201cawaiting approval from the BdE\u201d before it began expanding its operations in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not the first time the CNMV and Binance have crossed swords. In November last year, following an apparent promotional deal between Binance and the Spanish footballing legend Andr\u00e9s Iniesta, the latter posted pictures to Twitter of himself using the crypto trading platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unimpressed CNMV publicly admonished him on the social media platform, writing that cryptoassets, \u201cas unregulated products,\u201d entailed certain \u201crisks.\u201d The regulator ordered the World Cup-winning star to \u201cinform yourself thoroughly before investing in\u201d crypto \u201cor recommending others to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, the regulator placed Binance on a regulatory \u201cgrey list\u201d of firms \u2013 mainly crypto-related companies that it considers to be carrying out \u201cunregulated\u201d and \u201cunsupervised\u201d activities. Binance, along with a couple of other big-name crypto trading firms, was able to \u201cleave\u201d the list.
