However, he is supportive of the decision that the judge took to protect the institutional investors.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SEC Chair has finally commented <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WhaleChart\/status\/1681003204924809217\" class=\"ek-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">publicly<\/a> for the first time since the ruling on July 13 at the National Press Club on July 17. He was asked to share his thoughts on the ruling, whether the decision affected his stance on cryptocurrency, and whether it &#8220;injected urgency into the need for federal legislation to clarify regulatory oversight of this industry.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;We are pleased from that decision recognizing the importance of protecting investors\u2014institutional investors\u2014and the court movement in regard to fair notice, and while disappointed [by] what they said about retail investors, we are still looking at it and assessing that opinion,&#8221; Gensler replied.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The same topic arose later when the SEC Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/video\/sec-chair-warns-ais-potential-201110024.html\" class=\"ek-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">spoke<\/a> to Yahoo Finance in an interview. He said, &#8220;We are pleased that the court addressed [\u2026] that a token for institutional investors is a security [\u2026] disappointed in the other aspect about retail investors. Could the decision set a precedent? To this, the SEC Chair replied that &#8220;you\u2019re asking good questions,&#8221; but declined to answer them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, he did say that &#8220;these crypto platforms are commingling a number of services that [\u2026] we would not allow in any other parts of our capital markets.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is crucial to note that Judge Torres <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EleanorTerrett\/status\/1680995529155571712\" class=\"ek-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">filed<\/a> paperwork on July 17 referring the Ripple vs. SEC case to Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn.
