Bankman-Fried claimed he did not discuss his donations with former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame and FTX engineering director Nishad Singh. Instead, he claimed the funds came from loans from Alameda Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bankman-Fried <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/innercitypress\/status\/1717968540022534291\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"reportedly (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" class=\"ek-link\">reportedly<\/a> donated millions of dollars to US political parties as part of his efforts to secure favors in Washington. The 31-year-old told the court on Friday that he \u201cthought policy was important. Congress and the executive branch&#8230; Some were [supportive of] FTX for cryptocurrency lobbying. Some, not most.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Cohen: Who else made donations?<br>SBF: Nishad and Ryan Salame?<br>Cohen: Did you discuss them with Mr. Salame [he pronounces it Salaam]?<br>SBF: No.<br>Cohen: Your donations were from?<br>SBF: Loans from Alameda research.<\/p>&mdash; Inner City Press (@innercitypress) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/innercitypress\/status\/1717968540022534291?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">October 27, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked about his relationship with Ellison, Bankman-Fried claimed things ended because she \u201cwanted more than I could give.\u201d His response comes days after Ellison, in her testimony, <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinwisdom.com\/sbf-wanted-to-be-president-caroline-ellison-testifies\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"admitted (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"ek-link\">admitted<\/a> that things ended with Bankman-Fried because he \u201cwasn\u2019t spending much time\u201d with her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As widely suspected, Bankman-Fried tried to place the blame for FTX&#8217;s collapse on some of his employees rather than his deliberate misconduct. He told the court that he asked Ellison to hedge Alameda&#8217;s risks, but she failed to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bankman-Fried also claimed to have &#8220;supervised&#8221; FTX&#8217;s chief technology officer, Singh, and head of technology, Wang, but that they were free to make independent decisions and that he was more of an advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bankman-Fried&#8217;s defense team sought to change the narrative about FTX&#8217;s downfall on Friday and paint the story in a way that favors the former FTX CEO. They depicted FTX as a well-meaning organization that fell as a result of poor management rather than pure intentions to commit fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bankman-Fried told the jury on Friday that he wasn&#8217;t guilty of fraud as accused by prosecutors. The 31-year-old claimed he thought FTX&#8217;s expenses on naming rights came from the company&#8217;s earnings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several former FTX executives have testified against Bankman-Fried. However, the former crypto billionaire has painted himself as a novice who ventured into crypto with no experience and made huge mistakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bankman-Fried&#8217;s criminal trial has garnered much media attention and coverage since it began a few weeks ago.
