After A 24-Hour Halt, Celo Is Back Online
- The Celo Network suffered a network outage for over 24 hours but is now back online
- The community claims that this is a result of the “growing pains” of the network
Open-sourced Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain platform, Celo Network, has been suffering from network outage issues for the past 24 hours. However, as per its Twitter post, the blockchain appears to be finally up and running now.
Celo updated its 414K followers on Twitter after the network came back online. Moreover, the company mentioned that it was its first network outage since its mainnet launch on April 22, 2022.
Celo Network in pain?
According to the announcement, Celo Network has started a “thorough and expedited technical analysis” to remove the problem from its roots.
Many people on the protocol’s Discord channel began recognizing that the most recent outage was “part of the growing pains” of the network, but the majority remained confident in the fundamentals because it was the first network outage in more than two years.
“Even Visa had some network outage over the past two years despite being a market leader in payments for over 60 years,”
said people on Discord.
Notably, on Thursday, the DeFi protocol informed its community that the Celo Network had stalled at block 14,035,019, adding that no funds were affected by the outage. It resumed its operation after nine hours, but didn’t last long as it paused again at block 14,035,045.
At the time of publication, the Celo Network seems to be up and running again following an upgrade of its validator nodes, as the Celo Block explorer reveals.
The Celo Network, which is behind three stablecoins—Celo Dollars (cUSD), Celo Reals (cREAL), and Celo Euros (cEUR), claims to be a protocol that enables users to transact their funds with an average block time of five seconds. It supports smart contracts and DApps and is Ethereum Virtual Machine compatible. It is known for bringing crypto rights to users’ phones with its user-friendly interface.
The recent Uniswap v3 deployment
As BitcoinWisdom reported earlier on Thursday, the Uniswap v3 has been deployed recently on the Celo Blockchain after approval from the community. Moreover, the Celo Foundation recently launched green-asset pools with the cooperation of Climate Collective to help further a regenerative financial (ReFi) system and “currencies supported by natural capital on the blockchain.”
Earlier this week, the Helium network experienced a four-hour downtime due to validator failures brought on by a software update, delaying transaction finality.
