  • Earlier this year, Changpeng Zhao revealed that Binance plans to increase its staff strength by 15–30% in 2023.

Crypto exchange Binance has announced a partnership with Kazakhstan’s largest airline, Air Astana. Binance shared the news in a blog post, noting that the agreement would allow participants of the Air Astana Nomad Club passenger rewards program to convert their accumulated points into cryptocurrency on Binance.

Binance remarked that the deal signaled that the “traditional industry is ready to embrace the idea of using cryptocurrencies as an additional tool to interact with their customers through a loyalty program.” The crypto exchange also believes the partnership is a huge step towards the mass adoption of cryptocurrency.

According to a statement by Zhaslan, General Manager of Binance in Kazakhstan,

The cooperation between Binance and Air Astana marked the beginning of the interaction between the cryptocurrency ecosystem and corporations with large loyalty programs. The use of advanced digital solutions, such as blockchain and cryptocurrency, will open the doors to the world of innovation and financial technologies for the national company, and the airline’s customers will have another alternative to using the accumulated Nomad Club points, or rather, their monetization.

As per the announcement, participants of the program must sign up and complete basic verification on Binance between February 1 and February 28, 2023, to be eligible to convert accrued points into crypto. In addition, Nomad Club members who register on Binance will get a welcome bonus of 10 BUSD.

Nomad Club Program Manager Aisha Agaral, in a statement, claimed the Binance partnership was “the only one in the world,” adding that in the future it will be “one of the most popular between loyalty programs of different companies and cryptocurrency organizations.”

Binance continues expansion despite the FTX saga

Despite increased scrutiny on cryptocurrency exchanges and interest in Binance’s operations, the leading exchange has already announced two partnerships in 2023. Binance recently announced a partnership with Mastercard to provide crypto prepaid cards to users in Brazil.

Earlier this year, Binance announced that it would commence a hiring drive despite the high number of rival exchanges reducing their staff numbers. Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao stated that the exchange’s staff will grow by 15–30% in 2023 alone. Zhao added that Binance “will continue to build, and hopefully we will ramp up again before the next bull market.”

Zhao’s comment means Binance plans to add to the 5,000 employees that were employed in the previous year. At the time of the report, Binance had about 687 job opportunities listed on its careers page.
