Prosecutors seize Bitcoin Worth $560,000 from Andrew Tate

  • Andrew Tate was charged with rape, human trafficking, and organized crime.
  • Tate is a well-known crypto enthusiast and has a history of promoting Bitcoin and Ethereum.
  • Tate’s lawyers said the 36-year-old will defend his innocence and vindicate his reputation.

Romanian authorities have reportedly seized a sizable portion of social media influencer Andrew Tate’s Bitcoin (BTC) assets. Tate is currently accused of rape, human trafficking, and other organized crimes with the aim of sexually exploiting women. Prosecutors were said to have seized up to 15 luxury cars, 14 watches, 15 properties, and bitcoin worth $560,000 from the 36-year-old Tate.

A press statement from the Office of Information and Public Relations at the Romanian Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism revealed that the indictment includes four suspects, including Tate’s brother Tristan, who is currently being held under house arrest.

As of now, there is no exact detail on Tate’s crypto holdings. However, local police previously seized Bitcoin worth almost $500,000 months after his arrest in Romania in December 2022. Tate gained a reputation on social media for his misogynistic remarks.

Tate previously compared women to dogs and said that they share some of the blame for their rape. He relocated to Romania after reportedly being investigated in the UK for allegations of sexual assault, which were subsequently dismissed.

Interestingly, Tate allegedly bragged last year on the Fresh&Fit podcast that while living in the UK, he raked in funds by persuading several women to videochat and split their earnings with him. Romanian prosecutors claim that the Tate brothers seduced their victims with promises of relationships or marriages before exploiting them.

Prosecutors claim that after being brought to locations outside of Bucharest, the victims were sexually exploited and coerced into creating pornographic content for social media platforms that yielded substantial financial benefits.

Prosecutors charged Tate with raping one of the victims, while his brother Tristan was accused of instigating others to violence. Tate and Tristan will now stand trial in court following their formal indictment.

However, the trial will probably not begin anytime soon and might drag on for years. Both brothers have denied the claims, and their legal team said they were ready to “demonstrate their innocence and vindicate their reputation.”
