Otherside Metaverse Kickstarts Demo with Over 4 Thousand Participants

  • Otherside plans to offer its players an immersive experience of the metaverse.

The much-anticipated metaverse gaming world, Otherside, created by the development team behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club, is a step closer to being fully operational. The team recently invited about 4,300 participants, referred to as “Voyagers,” for a tech demo and walkthrough of the interactive space. All Otherside players will need to take one of these “First Trips” or watch one of them in order to play the game, which has not yet made its complete debut.

The trip to the Otherside appeared to have been a thrilling experience. Voyagers were told to head to a stadium in the center of a location called the Biogenic Swamp, so they could try out the avatar motions like dancing, racing, jumping, and emojis. Afterward, they were given a tour to other specific locations to interact with the settings, including huge species prowling around and threatening Voyagers if they came near.

According to a litepaper released by the team, only Otherdeed owners and “selected third-party developers” will be allowed to take part in the game during its initial phase. Phase 1 will include Otherdeed owners going through “Voyager’s Journey,” an 11-part story game, centered around a strange Obelisk that has surfaced in the Otherside realm. The initial phase will also see Otherdeed owners play their roles in deciding the game’s shape and fundamental features, using the Otherside Development Kit, the platform’s set of creative tools.

The game creators also expressed plans to adopt a community-centered approach, which they believe will be a game-changer for the industry. The developers wrote in the litepaper,

We believe in the extraordinary power of community and have seen firsthand how it can be a significant force for good in this industry. We aim to incentivize, empower, and recognize the expression, creativity, and ingenuity of Otherside’s community of contributors.

The litepaper also reinforced Otherside’s dedication to interoperability, which refers to the freedom digital assets can move across the various online gaming environments that may one day make up the avatar-navigated metaverse.

The Rise of the Otherdeed NFTS

Otherdeed NFTs have soared in popularity since launching in late April. According to reports, within three months, the collection has generated more than $1 billion in sales volume. The data ranked Otherdeed as the seventh highest-selling NFT project of all time in terms of overall sales.

Otherside differs from other top metaverse platforms in that it is now only accessible to its digital landowners as opposed to other leading metaverse sites that are available to all web users. According to data from CoinGecko, the least expensive Otherdeeds are presently trading for 2.8 ETH or a little under $3,800. Many cost a whole lot more.

Yuga Labs remains one of the leading players in the NFT space. The brand has managed to stay on top of its game by staying exclusive with a high financial barrier.
