The Sandbox Partners With Tony Hawk To Create A Skatepark In The Metaverse
- The Sandbox has partnered with Tony Hawk to create the biggest skatepark in the metaverse
- The virtual land will have a marketplace to sell skateboards and accessories
On Wednesday, one of the most renowned skateboarders in the world, Tony Hawk, announced that he is partnering with Animoca Brands’ blockchain-based metaverse, The Sandbox to create the “largest virtual skatepark ever made.”
The Sandbox has posted a video on Twitter which reveals that Tony Hawk’s virtual project, “Tony Hawk LAND” will not only have a marketplace to sell skateboards and accessories but also give customers access to editing tools to build the skatepark of their dream. Moreover, it would have a total of 36 plots of land, enough merit to earn it the title of the world’s largest skatepark.
Moreover, The Sandbox has also partnered with the NFT platform Autograph to leverage its high-fidelity avatars. The recent announcement reveals that based on Tony Hawk and his most famous skateboards, clothing, and equipment, including the legendary skateboard he used to land the 900 at the X Games in 1999, Autograph will create Tony Hawk avatar NFTs.
The Sandbox will make these NFTs interoperable in its open metaverse with 3D Voxel versions that have in-game capabilities, adding utility and value to their owners’ experiences.
The co-founder and CEO of Autograph, Dillon Rosenblatt, expressed his company’s enthusiasm for collaborating with both Tony Hawk and The Sandbox to develop immersive experiences that are only possible in the metaverse.
“At Autograph, we strive to build otherwise impossible experiences for communities of fans, and this is a step towards our goal of connecting them uniquely and at scale to Tony Hawk and each other […] We are thrilled to be working with The Sandbox and Tony Hawk on this activation and many others.”
Rosenblatt stated.
Despite the steep decline in the cryptocurrency market, metaverse-based games continue to attract those who find virtual land enjoyable, unique, and fun experiences beyond real-world constraints.
In particular, The Sandbox has refused to be affected by the current bearish trend by continuing to grow its partnership and adding new features to the metaverse.
Recently, as BitcoinWisdom reported, it officially confirmed its partnership with KEB Hana Bank to “expand global metaverse business in the banking industry.”
