Avengers Directors to Bring the FTX Story to Amazon

  • The FTX miniseries will be directed by the Russo brothers, who are behind the popular “Avengers” franchise.
  • The miniseries will focus on the rise of Bankman-Fried and the FTX exchange.
  • Several top Hollywood stars are being considered for a role in the miniseries.

FTX‘s collapse has gained more attention than first anticipated and is set to make its debut on the big screen. According to a Variety report, Amazon has plans to narrate the fall of one of the biggest crypto exchanges in a miniseries. Additionally, the directors behind the famous “Avengers” franchise are to work on the show.

Through their production firm, ABGO, Joe and Anthony Russo, who also directed Netflix’s “The Gray Man,” will oversee the eight-episode series. The famous brothers are also in discussions to executive produce and direct the series.

The Russo brothers seem well-informed about the FTX situation. They branded Bankman-Fried an extraordinarily strange character with complicated and perhaps hazardous objectives and described the collapse of FTX as one of the most blatant frauds ever performed.

The FTX story seems deeper than what’s on the surface. Investigations seem to point to a bigger picture than a mere collapse. Sam Bankman-Fried, the exchange’s founder and former CEO, was formerly a Washington darling, courting politicians and making headlines with jaw-dropping donations. However, recent findings have discovered a dark side to the former billionaire.

Bankman-Fried is rumoured to have used corporate funds for personal gains. The 30-year-old whose empire crashed in a couple of hours allegedly lavished funds on exotic real estate. Furthermore, different conspiracy theories have emerged, with some tagging FTX as the biggest Ponzi scheme in crypto.

Given that the Russo brothers are well-known for their action and superhero movies, it will be intriguing to watch how they approach the story of how a liquidity issue resulted in the demise of one of the biggest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world.

Surprisingly, crypto enthusiasts believe the FTX disaster is perfect for portrayal since it touches on a wide range of topics, including politics, tech, drugs, celebrities, and the future of contemporary finance. The miniseries will be scripted by David Weil, whose past works include Apple TV+’s Invasion and the Amazon series Hunters and Solos. The series will largely be based on insider sources from journalists familiar with the event and other top FTX executives.

Currently untitled, there is little information known about the plot, the time period, and the characters that will star in the series. However, sources claim the Russo brothers might rely on the services of actors they have worked with in the past.
