Celebrities Who Have Invested in Cryptocurrency

The world is evolving around us, with brand-new technologies coming to the forefront in an effort to simplify both our economies and our lifestyles. With the introduction of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and yes, even Dogecoin, everyday individuals can now become investors and both earn a living and secure their retirement.

But for worldwide recognition to take hold, it’s world-renowned celebrities—big and small—who help promote cryptocurrency to the masses.

Who are these celebrities who own cryptocurrency? How do they feel about bitcoin mining and crypto wallets? Let’s take a look at 50 celebrities who own cryptocurrency!

Elon Musk

As the richest man in the world, and in history, Elon Musk routinely invests his money in varying mediums and deals, like his recent acquisition of Twitter. But cryptocurrencies appear to be one of his passions.

Musk routinely touts the benefits of crypto coins on his social media, and often talks about the benefits and urges folks to consider cryptocurrencies as a whole. His company, Tesla, even accepts Bitcoin as payment for products.

On a personal level, Elon Musk owns a lot of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin. With the more recent dip in crypto prices in 2022, Musk even stated he fully intends to buy into the dip and invest more money in crypto as a whole. How much remains to be seen, though.

Jack Dorsey

Jack Dorsey, the entrepreneur behind Twitter, and more recently the founder and executive officer of Block, Inc., a financial payment company, is often called the ‘Spiritual Leader’ of Bitcoin. In fact, some claim he left Twitter to focus on cryptocurrencies as the wave of the future.

In 2022, alongside rapper Jay-Z, Dorsey launched a Bitcoin academy via a public housing complex in Brooklyn, New York, where Jay-Z grew up. Dorsey and Jay-Z often collaborate on Bitcoin ventures, including putting together a 500 BTC investment in 2021 to help develop crypto popularity in India and Africa.

It’s unclear precisely how much Bitcoin Jack Dorsey holds, though it’s likely a lot considering his routine investments and projects in the crypto space.

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson, a famous boxer and actor known for controversy and comedy, in some ways, really went all-in on the hype train surrounding Bitcoin. He founded Mike Tyson Bitcoin, offering a Bitcoin ATM and, in recent developments, a cryptocurrency wallet that allows users to trade and store crypto coins.

He has been quoted as saying, “In a few years from now Bitcoin and other digital currency are going to be a normal part of our monetary systems.”

Alongside extensive Bitcoin investments, though how many coins he owns he’s quite mum on, Tyson also began investing in Solana Crypto in early 2022. He announced that, with Solana, he was going “all in” with his investment.

Elsewhere, Mike Tyson also has his own NFT collection known as Opensea.

Maisie Williams

Maisie Williams, an actress who gained fame starring in Game of Thrones on HBO, and more recently gained some attention on Twitter by asking about Bitcoin. Her tweet, which quickly became a meme, was even replied to by Elon Musk, who wrote, “Toss a bitcoin to ur Witcher,” in response to Maise.

Ultimately, when asking whether or not she should invest in Bitcoin, Williams received countless responses from both sides of the coin, as it were. Some told her to buy now and hold, others told her to never tough BTC with a ten-foot pole.

Ultimately, Maise’s interest in Bitcoin grew, though it’s unclear how many coins she wound up purchasing from this exchange.

Mark Cuban

Mark Cuban, an American billionaire entrepreneur and television personality, already amassed a fortune most folks will never see in their lifetime. Despite his monetary success, Cuban continues to invest in the likes of Bitcoin and other blockchain technologies making waves.

Cuba is a prolific crypto investor who has an extensive wallet of various coins, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. When discussing his investments, Cuban revealed that 80% of his investments that are not on Shark Tank are focused on crypto technology and coins.

At one point, Cuban even invested $500 into Dogecoin. That investment, he said, wound up reaching heights of about $1,500. A sound return on what is essentially a meme coin.

Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg, the legendary rapper and, more recently, video game streamer, made waves for promising to adopt Bitcoin as a payment method for the release of his more recent rap albums. His 2013 release, Reincarnated, would sell for 0.3 BTC per album.

In 2013, Snoop Dogg reached out to crypto trading platform Coinbase to form a partnership or collaboration between hip-hop and cryptocurrency, specifically for the release of his album. It never happened, though. Sadly, Snoop never made Bitcoin a possible payment option for his album, and he missed out on potentially millions of dollars. 50 Cent even criticized Snoop for passing up the opportunity, after making millions himself for the same idea.

More recently, Snoop launched a metaverse project, an NFT collaboration designed to bring music and digital assets to the forefront of the conversation online.

Elsewhere, Snoop Dogg has invested in Robinhood, openly endorsed Bitcoin, and opted to use blockchain technology for projects he’s working on today.

Steven Seagal

Like a few other notable celebrities on this list, Steven Seagal’s foray into the world of cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin wound up a resounding failure. Like many of his odd films, Seagal’s crypto ventures were dubbed “bizarre” at best, and a “pyramid scheme” at worst.

Seagal found himself investing in crypto ICOs in 2018, specifically Bitcooin2Gen in January of that year. Seagal was named Brand Ambassador to the company and helped promote its crypto schemes online to his widespread social media following.

Seagal wound up parting ways with the company after the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance Securities Division warned consumers about the project, which appeared to offer unregistered securities.

Kanye West

Kanye West, known as Ye nowadays, made his name as a rapper and record producer. He is often recognized as one of the most influential musicians of all time, and the greatest of the generation.

Despite the success he found in the music industry, Ye wanted more, and we don’t blame him one bit. He wound up focusing on cryptocurrencies of varying types. On the topic of Bitcoin, West has claimed the crypto coin is the “true liberation of America.” He routinely invests in BTC and crypto technology as a whole, and partners with various venture capitalists, like Anthony Schiller, to make sound investment strategies.

Apparently, alongside digital currency, Ye is also heavily working on NFT projects for his fans, too.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Many stories surrounding celebrities investing in Bitcoin and other crypto coins wind up quite happy, with folks making countless millions of dollars in the meantime. Floyd Mayweather Jr. the world-famous boxer, is not one such story, though.

In social media posts on Facebook, Floyd urged his millions of followers to put up their money and invest in Centra Token, a new type of cryptocurrency. The sale of said crypto coin wound up in U.S. courts, however, with a class-action lawsuit stating that Centra violated security laws.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is one crypto coin owner who could wind up losing a lot of money due to said lawsuit, depending on how the courts vote.

Richard Branson

Richard Branson remains one of the richest people on the planet. The British billionaire, who founded the Virgin Group, controls over 400 companies across numerous industries. Due to his prolific nature and world-famous personality, Branson is often the target of crypto coin scams. Scammers will use his name to help promote their scam, attracting uneducated investors who want to become the next billionaire entrepreneur.

Thankfully, Richard Branson continues to utilize his immense wealth and power to put a stop to such BTC scams, to help investors make safe trades without fear.

On the topic of Bitcoin and digital currencies, Branson is no stranger. He routinely invests in crypto, and his company, Virgin Galactic, even accepts Bitcoin as payment for flights into space.

He believes the creator of Bitcoin is a genius, and firmly believes crypto coins will become the perfect global currency in the future.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow is more than an actress, she’s a businesswoman with a lot of savvy strategies on her side. She puts in work on-screen but also runs businesses, like Goop, a wellness and lifestyle brand and company.

Alongside her starring performances and business ventures, Paltrow also joined the crypto hustle alongside Mila Kunis in 2022. Paltrow was one of many celebrities to put up money as an investment fund for crypto startup MoonPay. She also joined actresses Mila Kunis and Reese Witherspoon to help empower women to embrace “crypto sisterhood.”

As for her own investments, it’s unclear how many coins she owns and what her wallet is worth, though she remains a sound investor these days.

Donald Glover

Donald Glover, an actor and rapper known as Childish Gambino, admires Bitcoin for its possibilities. In an interview back in 2013, he said, “I know a lot of people are skeptical, but I feel like if everything’s going to live online, why not Bitcoins? Being backed by gold seems very old and nostalgic to me.”

He believes cryptocurrency “makes more sense” overall. In all, Glover was one of the first mainstream celebrities to endorse Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as a whole.

The young man has invested in crypto since the interview in 2013, though like many other celebrities, he doesn’t share how much money he has spent, earned, or lost on crypto coins of any kind.

Ben Askren

Ben Askren, the former MMA fighter and amateur wrestler, remained undefeated for over a decade before taking part in the UFC. At 37 years old, Askren built a reputation and earned countless millions of dollars through his time spent in the ring.

But as one venture ends, another arises. Askren retired from the ring and wound up discussing cryptocurrencies with Bitcoin Magazine and his social media following.

On said magazine podcast, Ben was quoted as saying, “I use Bitcoin to free myself from the dictatorships around me” and “I lost my bitcoins in a boating accident,” a popular saying among firearm owners when discussing what they would do if the government came for their guns.

Ben firmly believes that Bitcoin and its ilk are the way forward, a currency of the future.

Dave Portnoy

Dave Portnoy, an internet celebrity and founder of Barstool Sports, earned most of his considerable fortune from the latter. The digital sports conglomerate helped him earn millions. But his crypto investments helped keep him in the green.

Portnoy firmly believes that crypto is “too big to fail now.” As such, he made a $1 million investment in Bitcoin. In total, he bought 29 Bitcoin, which currently sells for $20,686.70 per coin, as of this writing.

In the same reveal, Portnoy said he had been buying and selling BTC for years now, and first bought the coin when it was just $11,000 per coin. He sold the following day, though.

Ashton Kutcher

The That 70’s Show actor may be famous for his on-screen performances, both on television and the big screen, but it’s his investments that keep him in the headlines these days. Kutcher, a formidable actor in every way, also made savvy investments through his venture capital firm A-Grade Investments. His company helped fund Uber and Airbnb, for example.

He even spoke at a TechCrunch conference about “decentralized technology” and his adoration for blockchain technology today.

Furthermore, Kutcher is an early adopter of Bitcoin. He started investing over a decade ago when Bitcoin per coin prices were quite low. He also invested in BitPau and BitGo, two cryptocurrency technology companies.

Lately, Kutcher has urged fans to invest in Bitcoin while they can.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp, the world-famous actor known for his starring role in Pirates of the Caribbean, and, more recently, in his court case against ex-wife Amber Heard, remains a household name and fan favorite for many film followers globally.

Like countless other celebrities these days, Johnny Depp amassed extensive wealth and continues to invest his film earnings to further increase his bank account. For instance, Depp extensively invests in Ethereum and owns NFTs based around Ethereum.

With the recent win in the courtroom, Depp saw a massive price jump in his NFT artwork.

As for coins, it’s unclear how many or what types Depp holds, though he is quite active in the crypto community as a whole.

Pitbull

Pitbull, the famous rapper and singer, found fame in the early 2000s for his Latin hip-hop and crunk music. His first album was released to the world in 2004 and cemented the rapper as a star to watch. In more recent years, Pitbull remains in the spotlight as both an artist and ambassador for education.

On the technology front, Pitbull hopes blockchain developers will help “disrupt the music industry” and make some much-needed changes these days. He has even invested in crypto and blockchain technology, with one recent deal, a multi-year deal with One of, cemented to help back cryptocurrencies on the market today.

As to whether or not Pitbull buys crypto coins, the rapper isn’t saying much about his personal investments besides the big-time deals.

Bill Gates

As the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates is one of the richest people in the entire world. It makes sense that, as someone who has spent their entire life dedicated to technology, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies would be commonplace discussions in the Gates’ household.

Speaking on the topic of Bitcoin, Gates said, “I think it’s a technical tour de force but that it is an area where governments are going to maintain a dominant role. Bitcoin is exciting because it shows how cheap it can be. Bitcoin is better than currency in that you don’t have to be physically in the same place and, of course, for large transactions, currency can get pretty inconvenient.”

In more recent years, however, Gates has called crypto and NFTs a “sham.” He doesn’t own crypto personally but reportedly does invest in blockchain technology to help other industries as a whole.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton became famous for a few reasons, and one of them was for being a media personality who also happened to be the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of Hilton Hotels.

On the technology front, however, Paris goes all in. She claims crypto “have taken over my entire mind and soul.” She bets heavily and largely on cryptocurrencies and NFTs and, more recently, on the metaverse.

She says she began investing in Bitcoin in 2016, when a single coin was priced at about $1,000, and also on Ethereum when a single ether was $10. These days, both coins are worth significantly more money, even with the large dip in 2022.

Hugh Laurie

Hugh Laurie, the British actor best known for his role as the lead in House, embodies dry, British humor in a way unlike any other actor can these days. And while his various television and film roles keep him in the spotlight, his crypto investments shine brighter.

In 2015, Hugh Laurie purchased $5,000 worth of Bitcoin. At the time, BTC was worth approximately $300 per coin. Assuming he held onto his investment, it could be worth hundreds of thousands. If he waits until the dip is over, he could make a million or more from his initial investment.

As a joke, during the massive dip in crypto, Hugh Laurie also introduced the world to his own coin. He physically minted a coin with his face and name included on the front as a gag.

Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi, also known as Leo Messi, is an Argentinian-born professional football player known for playing the role of forward for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain.

On the crypto front, Messi recently signed a deal in 2022 for $20 million to help promote crypto fan token firm Socios.com. Furthermore, Messi took on a signing-on fee with Paris St Germain in cryptocurrency tokens. He signed a two-year contract, with an option for a third year.

It’s unclear how many crypto tokens he received, or what type of tokens, but the truth of the matter is, Messi owns a lot of digital currency these days.

Al Gore

Al Gore, best known as an American politician and environmentalist, recently discussed digital technology, specifically blockchain technology, and claimed that decentralized money is the way forward for the world.

Elsewhere, Gore has stated he is a Bitcoin enthusiast and has reportedly dabbled in cryptocurrency investments. However, the total amount of said investments, if any, was not made public.

He said, “When Bitcoin currency is converted from currency into cash, that interface has to remain under some regulatory safeguards. I think the fact that within the Bitcoin universe an algorithm replaces the functions of [the government] … is actually pretty cool.”

Madonna

Madonna, one of the most famous singers on the planet, often referred to as the “Queen of Pop,” continues to make sound investment choices by now turning her attention to cryptocurrencies.

Alongside her interest in crypto coins, like Bitcoin, Madonna heavily focuses on NFTs. She even has an entire line of digital art assets available for sale that feature her giving birth to a tree. It’s quite graphic and, honestly, more than a little strange. Yet despite the oddity, folks pay money — digital or otherwise — for the chance to own an exclusive piece of digital art from Madonna.

Furthermore, Madonna utilizes MoonPay to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies, like Ethereum, for her NFT addiction.

Jamie Foxx

Jamie Foxx, one of the most recognized actors of today, known for starring roles in Django Unchained and Collateral, amongst many others, made the smart move by diversifying his assets. He routinely promotes crypto coins on his social media, including Crypto Exchange ICO Cobinhood. Cobinhood was said to be a zero-fee crypto exchange that raked in roughly $5 million in Ethereum.

Foxx was not the only actor to invest in Cobinhood Coin, and it’s unclear how many coins he held, but what is known is that Foxx remains an outspoken supporter of digital currencies.

Alongside Cobinhood Coin, Foxx has promoted Ethereum online.

Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr, an American actress, comedian, and former presidential candidate, became famous for starring in Roseanne, the sitcom, on television in the late 80s. In recent years, following a failed presidential candidacy run, Roseanne has since become outspoken against the federal government and debt practices in the country. She routinely touts Bitcoin as the way forward.

In tweets on her social media profile, she has claimed that Bitcoin will help “end satanic ritual rule,” which apparently points to the federal government.

She has also pushed her followers to learn more about Bitcoin as a whole and to learn investment strategies for cryptocurrency and the like.

Barr does own Bitcoin, though it’s unclear how many coins her wallet contains.

Lily Allen

Lily Allen, the famous singer and actress, started in 2005 when she made her first lyrical recordings public via Myspace. Since then, she has signed record deals, received nominations for numerous awards, including Grammy Awards, and released hit singles to the world regularly.

Despite her innovative founding, reports came to light that, sadly, Lily Allen turned down a staggering 200,000 Bitcoins to perform a gig in 2009. Back then, Bitcoin wasn’t worth as much, but nowadays, those 200,000 Bitcoins would be worth $4.7 billion at the time the story came to light.

She is likely kicking herself for that one and has since shown interest in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It’s unclear how much Bitcoin she owns today, though it’s certainly not billions of dollars worth of digital coins.

Drew Carey

You likely know and love Drew Carey from his time on The Drew Carey Show or, more recently, on The Price is Right, where he took over as host in 2007. The actor and stand-up comedian, even now in his 60s, remains a household name for many.

Carey routinely states that he was one of the earliest adopters of Bitcoin, and often promotes its usage and innovation. On Twitter, he often speaks about Bitcoin, and even tries to make everyday purchases using cryptocurrency, though he doesn’t always have luck at the local diner when buying breakfast.

Sadly, despite routinely talking about Bitcoin with the masses, Drew Carey has not yet stated how much Bitcoin he holds, or whether he owns any other cryptocurrency, too.

Melanie Brown

Melanie Brown, better known as Mel B, is an English singer, songwriter, and actress, who came up with the Spice Girls in the 90s. While part of the pop group, Mel B went by the name Scary Spice.

These days, she sticks to her real name or nickname when making headlines in the entertainment industry. But it’s not her fame we’re interested in today, it’s her cryptocurrency views and wallet.

Believe it or not, it is reported that Mel B is one of the first mainstream artists to accept Bitcoin as payment. She sold her single “For Once in My Life” available online for Bitcoin, directly via her personal website.

At one point, Mel B only had a little over $1,000 in her bank account. She’s now worth millions due to her sound investments and marketing strategies, specifically focused on Bitcoin.

It’s unclear exactly how many Bitcoins Mel B owns today, but it’s likely quite a lot due to her resounding success with the payment method as a whole.

Luis Suárez

Luis Suárez, the famous Uruguayan professional football player, most recently made headlines for coming close to signing with a new football club after his time with Liverpool as a striker. Alongside his time spent on the field, Luis also spends countless hours on social media promoting various crypto coins and blockchain technologies.

In recent months, over on Instagram, Luis promoted Leafty, a type of crypto coin designed to help “save the planet.” The coin in question helps by donating portions of proceeds to non-profit organizations that focus on environmental assistance and tasks.

Elsewhere, Luis released a series of NFTs for his followers to purchase but he was only accepting ERN, a crypto token based on Ethereum, for some of the exclusive NFTs available. It’s unclear how many crypto coins Luis holds currently, though.

Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan, known more for his podcast than his UFC commentator role these days, makes waves seemingly daily with hot takes and various interviews with high-profile celebrities and much-hated individuals online.

When it comes to Bitcoin, Rogan “just gets it.” He understands the opportunity surrounding cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, and in 2021, accepted Bitcoin payment in the amount of $100,000 for his podcast. He routinely promotes crypto products, including the use of Cash App to auto-purchase Bitcoin daily, weekly, or bi-weekly. He has previously stated that, when Bitcoin sold for $1,000 per coin, he was “all in.”

But on the topic of crypto and NFTS, Rogan wants nothing to do with digital art assets and considers them more of a “hustle” than anything else.

The Game

The Game, a Compton-based rapper known for his hard style and tough aesthetic, made it out of the hood by selling mixtapes and rapping alongside JT the Bigga Figga. These days, the 42-year-old rapper is a household name for anyone who enjoys rap and hip-hop.

Besides his long-running rap career, The Game reportedly shows quite an interest in cryptocurrency as the wave of the future. Even now, in 2022, The Game routinely posts about crypto ventures via social media, touting various blockchain technologies and crypto portfolios, like BlockCensus.

Sadly, in 2021, The Game faced over $12 million in charges for promoting an unregistered ICO (illegal coin offering). Alongside founder Jessica VerSteeg, The Game helped promote Paragon Coin in 2017. The coin was meant to “revolutionize cannabis and the world.”

As it turns out, VerSteeg and her partner, both of whom founded Paragon, skipped with the investment money and disappeared. The Game was one of many left holding the bag.

Nargis Fakhri

Nargis Fakhri, an American actress and model known for her work in 2011’s Rockstar and 2015’s Spy, built a reputation for her on-screen personality and appearance. But in recent years, Nargis made moves off-screen to cement her status as a celebrity and rich individual.

In 2017, Nargis started promoting the book “Crypto Currency for Beginners” to her followers. She also stated she’d been recently watching videos about Bitcoin investing and cryptocurrency as a whole. At the time, she was unsure of her feelings surrounding Bitcoin and crypto coins.

Unfortunately, Nargis Fakhri was one of many celebrities and internet users who fell victim to a Bitcoin scam. A crackdown in India found investors who could potentially lose heavy losses due to said scam, and Nargis was reportedly duped of Rs 6 Lakh at the time, though it’s unclear how much Bitcoin she purchased, if any, through the reported scam.

Richard Sherman

It would appear that a career in the NFL, while bright as a shining star, can be short-lived for many football players who make waves. Richard Sherman, a cornerback originally with the Seattle Seahawks, made a name for himself after his initial draft in 2011. But in recent years, Sherman ventured outside of sports to cryptocurrency to build his income and amass wealth.

In early 2014, Sherman began accepting Bitcoin as payment for the merchandise he sold online. The same year, he started investing in the coin when it sold for $2,000 per coin. Even his grandmother wanted in on the venture when Bitcoin reached $19,000 per coin. He talked her out of investing, though.

Like any sound investor, Sherman routinely discusses the need for thorough personal research before buying into any type of investment. He’s not trying to push coins; he’s trying to educate folks on cryptocurrencies and digital technologies making the rounds. It’s commendable.

Nas

Nas was a shooting star with a booming rap career at one point, though that fame petered out somewhat in more recent years. However, even today, countless years after his first album release, Nas releases music online to the masses.

But we’re more curious about his cryptocurrency ventures and interests. Nas has routinely called himself the “Cryptocurrency Scarface” due to his formidable investments with Coinbase. It’s unclear how much crypto the rapper purchased, but reports indicate he’s brought in over $100 million from buying coins via Coinbase. Through his portfolio company Queensbridge Venture Partners, Nas invested millions in Coinbase in 2013, before it made the big time, and Nas fully believed Bitcoin was the future of currency, becoming “bigger than the internet” at some point in the future.

Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty, an Indian actress, producer, dancer, and former model, made waves in Bollywood for her countless starring roles, and for making an appearance on the reality television series Celebrity Big Brother 5.

In more recent years, however, Shilpa ultimately decided to branch out and explore cryptocurrency and Bitcoin. She started by leveraging her following on social media to ask questions and explore digital currency. Then, she turned to reading material, like “Crypto Currency for Beginners.”

It’s unclear how much Bitcoin Shilpa Shetty ultimately purchased, though we do know her husband, Raj Kundra, was quested by authorities in a Bitcoin scam case in India.

DJ Khaled

While many know DJ Khaled for the countless internet memes circulating on top sites, the man is famous as a DJ, record producer, and even an author. He built his fame step by step by making sound investments and putting in the work.

Unfortunately, those sound investments stopped at cryptocurrency. In 2018, DJ Khaled, along with Floyd Mayweather Jr., was among a group of celebrities being sued for taking part in an alleged illegal crypto coin scam. Khaled reportedly signed an endorsement deal with a crypto tech company called Centra Tech, which aimed to sell products related to crypto coins and currency. The founders of the company were later arrested and charged with wire fraud and securities fraud.

DJ Khaled helped push their products to his followers on social media and, as such, many wanted their money back pronto.

Chad Ochocinco Johnson

Chad Ochocinco Johnson, for many football fans, remains a household name. As a long-time wide receiver in the NFL, Johnson rose to fame, though that fame petered out around 2012. Since then, Ochocinco ventured into reality television and other mediums. In 2014, his interests included Bitcoin and cryptocurrency investments. On Twitter, he would leverage his followers to gain knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as a whole.

Some of his fans even went so far as to send him Bitcoin. Not a full coin, mind you, but a fraction of one. In total, Ochocinco received roughly 0.001 BTC, which, at the time, was worth about $.50 cents total.

Later, in 2021, Ochocinco, when asked about crypto investments, replied to one user saying, “I scam and sell dope, not into crypto.” It appears the thrill of Bitcoin was short-lived for the former football star.

Bjork

Bjork, the much-beloved Icelandic singer-songwriter who began making music at just 11 years old, quickly became a world-renowned performer and grew immense wealth due to her musical career over the years. But when you have money, you always want more. Bjork, like many other celebrities, turned to crypto investments to bring in more influence and cash in the long run.

Like a few other celebrities mentioned on this list, Bjork wasn’t satisfied with buying Bitcoin or investing in Ethereum. She wanted her own coin. Dubbed “Audio Coins,” Bjork’s cryptocurrency launched in 2017, at the height of the crypto boom.

But like most other fly-by-night crypto coins started by celebrities trying to cash in on the craze, Audio Coins flopped hard. At one point, they dropped to just $0.07 for 100 Audio Coins. Now, these crypto coins were sold as a package deal with her album, ‘Utopia’, and so most didn’t buy into the craze in the traditional sense.

Jessica VerSteeg

We once again have a tale of a celebrity turning to the digital age to cement their position in the cryptocurrency world. Jessica VerStag, best known for her time on the reality television series Amazing Race, and as Miss Iowa US 2014, ultimately decided to shift away from acting full-time to found and act as CEO of Paragon Coin.

Unfortunately, as is becoming more commonplace amidst all of the hype surrounding Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, Paragon Coin appeared to be good to be true. The coin, which was marketed as a revolutionary way to monetize cannabis in California and raise influence and popularity for the plant, wound up flopping quite hard.

The former beauty model and reality star ultimately raised over $12 million for her crypto coin. Then, she disappeared. The Northern District of California ultimately decided to take on the case, though the celebrity behind the coin and its operation was nowhere to be found.

Ghostface Killah

Unlike many of the other celebrities who invest in cryptocurrency, renowned rapper Ghostface Killah took digital coins a step further by introducing his own to the world. Cream Capital, named as such because of Wu-Tang Clan’s 1993 hit song, ‘C.R.E.A.M.’, which is an acronym for ‘Cash Rules Everything Around Me’, introduced the Cream Dividend Token. Ghostface Killah launched the company as its founding member.

In 2017, when the crypto coin was introduced to the world, it launched for just $0.02 per coin. The following year, its price skyrocketed to $0.12 per coin. The upward trend didn’t last long, though. Ghostface Killah’s cryptocurrency appeared destined for failure as its per coin price plummeted to below $0.0045 per coin. For all intents and purposes, the Cream Coin failed big time.

Whether or not rapper Ghostface Killah intends to try again remains to be seen, though it’s not out of the realm of possibility with how immensely popular digital currency has become since 2017.

Tyler Winklevoss

You may not know the name Tyler Winklevoss, but you’ve surely witnessed the man in his prime in recent years. As an Olympic rower, he impressed crowds with his physical prowess. In the field of business, Winklevoss is the founder of Winklevoss Capital Management and Gemini Cryptocurrency Exchange, along with an avid investor in technology firms, blockchain, and crypto coins.

Along with his twin brother, Cameron, Tyler Winklevoss invests heavily in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. His investments include crypto trading platform Slingshot, along with Taxbit, Praxis, and others.

With the power, influence, and money behind Gemini Cryptocurrency Exchange, the twins have extensive stakes in around 50 crypto and blockchain technology companies globally.

It is said that the Winklevoss twins purchased 1% of all existing Bitcoin in 2012, making them among the largest holders of Bitcoin in the world. They’re mum on the total number of Bitcoin in their portfolios, though.

Serena Williams

Serena Williams, along with her husband Alexis Ohanian, who is the co-founder of Reddit, both placed a significant portion of their current wealth into digital cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

One of the biggest investments Williams made was a pledge to Sorare, a blockchain-based fantasy soccer game that raised $4.3 billion in total funding. Serena, as one of the largest and most notable investors to the platform, quickly elevated to the position of board advisor.

Elsewhere, Serena Williams has reportedly invested countless amounts of money into Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. Williams also reportedly purchased NFTs on the regular, including Cryptopunk and Bored Apes.

But that’s not the end of the tennis pro’s crypto investments. She also heavily focuses on the blockchain ecosystem, including Bitski, Islands, Lolli, QuickNode, and the aforementioned Solana Venture.

50 Cent

Known for countless chart-topping rap singles and multi-million view music videos, 50 Cent, in recent years, has begun diversifying his assets to become a savvy businessman worth millions of dollars. He owns numerous businesses, invests in global brands, and produces television series, too.

But right now, we’re curious about his experience with cryptocurrency. It appears that, like with physical businesses across the nation, 50 Cent invests in crypto extensively. 50 Cent amassed an extensive collection of Bitcoin after choosing to accept crypto for his 2014 album “Animal Ambition.”

In total, he holds over 700 Bitcoin, worth around $14,843,500, give or take depending on the precise number of Bitcoin he holds in a cryptocurrency wallet.

But here’s the real kicker. 50 Cent forgot he even owned Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency sat dormant for years, since 2014, until the rapper/businessman only recently remembered that, hey, he’s a Bitcoin millionaire!

Justin Bieber

Hate him or love him, Justin Bieber remains one of the most influential pop stars in the world today. The young man leveraged his singsong voice and boyish appearance to produce a money-making empire that continues to this day. So, what does someone Bieber’s age (28 years old) with too much money do? Invest and build returns, that’s what!

One such way, of course, is by investing in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. Bieber is one of many celebrities, including Snoop Dogg and Bruce Willis, to invest in MoonPay — a cryptocurrency payment startup that attracted 60 high-profile investors amongst today’s hottest stars in the film, television, and music industries.

Bieber isn’t alone, though. It appears everyone within earshot invests in Bitcoin and its ilk. Bieber’s manager recently sold a mansion for $18.5 million worth of Bitcoin. That’s a huge sum of crypto!

Jason Derulo

If you spend any amount of time following cryptocurrency trends, like the rise and fall of Bitcoin on a regular basis, then you happily know that Solana was, at one point in time, a top contender when it came to maximum returns and gains. It was, for a period, the highest-performing crypto coin in 2021, and some celebrities took notice.

One such celebrity was Jason Derulo, the iconic singer behind such hit songs as ‘Acapulco’ and ‘Take You Dancing’. In June of 2021, Derulo spent an untold amount of money investing in crypto, specifically Solana, which would hit an all-time high of $143 per coin.

Alongside his crypto investment in 2021, Jason Derulo is further known for tracking Bitcoin gains. He eagerly followed the market in the past few years, hoping and praying for Bitcoin to hit $100,000 in value by the end of 2021. That did not, unfortunately, happen, though.

Mathew McConaughey

If any actor in the world should be noted for their diversity, skill, and financial acumen, it’s Mathew McConaughey. Alongside countless starring roles in films such as Interstellar, The Gentlemen, and Dallas Buyers Club, McConaughey is also an author, producer, and brand representative for the likes of Lincoln and more.

But its his crypto investments we’re most excited about, honestly. Alongside Justin Bieber, Drake, Eva Longoria, and Paris Hilton, Mathew McConaughey quickly invested an untold amount of money into crypto startup MoonPay. The Miami-based software company allows its users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, using credit cards, bank transfers, crypto wallets, and more traditional mobile wallets, like Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Elsewhere, McConaughey has sat down with Forbes to discuss investment strategies that help him diversify his income. One such diversification route he chose was to focus on Bitcoin investments.

Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling, who most may know from her stint on The Office, is an American actress and author who, now in her 40s, has diversified her income streams significantly over the years. What began as a television career quickly blossomed into book deals, producer roles, comedy skits, and now cryptocurrency investments.

In fact, Mindy Kaling is quite outspoken when it comes to financial freedom via cryptocurrency technology and takes to social media often to discuss the possibilities and benefits of crypto coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Earlier in 2022, she said, “My plan to make a hundred million on crypto without knowing anything about crypto has not panned out.” Despite the slow returns from her crypto investments, Kaling did not give up on her quest. A few like-minded women reached out, offering crypto hedge fund possibilities, and Kaling even met with a crypto advisor and later invested in bitcoin mining company TeraWulf.

Questlove

Questlove, the American musician and record producer, along with being the frontman of the hip-hop band The Roots, looks to vary his investments. In recent years, the musician began focusing efforts on cryptocurrency investments, though he’s yet to delve into crypto mining, from what we can see.

Furthermore, Questlove is one of many popular musicians, including G-Eazy and Fetty Wap, who took part in Sky Gardens—an elite cryptocurrency party focused on crypto investments and the lifestyle allowed by crypto returns and gains—hosted by Yat Labs.

Questlove helped warm up the crowd alongside the Roots Crew, and the whole crew entertained VIPS, many of whom invest in crypto regularly themselves.

Elsewhere, Questlove has discussed other forms of digital coins and assets, including NFTs. He is quoted as saying, “When I first heard of digital art being monetized, sold and becoming big business it was head scratching.” While odd, he’s hopeful that NFTs and other forms of crypto help the music industry as a whole.

Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes, the world-renowned singer hailing from Canada, known for posting song covers on Vine back in the day, and now touring the world for sold-out stadium shows is also a fan of cryptocurrency investments and blockchain endeavors.

Perhaps his most popular tour brings the vocalist to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, in September of 2022. But alongside selling out a show in a crypto-themed arena heavy with marketing material for the latest and greatest cryptocurrencies, Mendes also invests in cryptocurrency himself.

In the past, Shawn Mendes became one of the celebrities to offer their support and monetary contributions to MoonPay. He joins the likes of Drake, Eva Longoria, Kate Hudson, Paris Hilton, and Mathew McConaughey as investors.

In total, alongside everyone else’s investments, a collective $87 million was put together in funding for MoonPay, which is on top of the previous $555 million investment to the cryptocurrency giant.

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria, known far and wide for her stunning beauty but also for roles such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Dora and The Lost City of Gold, and Desperate Housewives, seemingly began making moves in the cryptocurrency space in recent years. Like many other celebrities on the list, Eva Longoria, who has amassed extensive wealth throughout her career, has invested in cryptocurrency startup MoonPay.

When it comes to crypto investments, MoonPay appears to be one of the most popular among the country’s wealthiest denizens. Other A-list celebrities investing in MoonPay include Snoop Dogg and Ashton Kutcher, both of whom we mentioned previously on our list of celebrities who own cryptocurrency.

But it’s not just cryptocurrency investing that attracts Eva Longoria these days. She also proudly flaunts a collection of NFT artwork stemming from the Crypto Chick NFT—a female-oriented NFT collection popular among wealthy actresses and starlets.
